Inari in December
Wilderness Hotel Inari offers an exquisite combination of high-quality accommodation with pristine nature and Arctic activities. Its location, just five minutes from the Sámi village of Inari, makes this top-class resort the ideal starting point to immerse yourself in Sámi culture. At Wilderness Hotel Inari, they will ensure that your vacation in Lapland is unforgettable.
Inari is located 300 km north of the Arctic Circle. It is a small village on the shores of the lake that bears the same name, known for being the center of Sami culture in Lapland. Its low light pollution enhances the possibility of seeing the Northern Lights, which are said to appear around 200 nights a year. Let's hope for some luck during our stay... It is a perfect place to explore by snowmobile, husky sledding, snowshoeing, skiing... or simply relaxing in the sauna.
Day 1. Start of the Arctic adventure. Seville, Ivalo, Inari.
Arrival at the airport. Meeting with Catai staff who will assist you with the simple check-in procedures. Departure on a special direct flight to Ivalo. Snack on board included. Meet your guide and transfer to Inari (approx. 30 min). Arrival. Once you reach your destination, you will collect the thermal equipment that you can use throughout your stay in Lapland. After getting settled, enjoy a delicious dinner at the hotel restaurant. Accommodation.
Day 2. Reindeer Farm and Cross-Country Skiing.
Buffet breakfast at the hotel. We will start our adventure in Lapland with a visit to a reindeer farm. Upon arrival at the farm, the Sámi herder will welcome us. We will have the opportunity to feed the reindeer and see the newborn calves that are born around May. We will end the visit with a sleigh ride. Each sleigh is pulled by a single reindeer, and each reindeer has its own name. This sleigh ride is ideal for enjoying the snowy landscape. We will return to the hotel where we will enjoy a delicious lunch before engaging in one of the most common activities in Lapland. In the afternoon, we will have an excursion to the cross-country skiing tracks. Cross-country skiing is very easy to learn, even for those who have never tried it before. We will enjoy the snow while practicing this activity with qualified instructors. We will return to the hotel and have free time to rest before dinner at the resort's restaurant. Accommodation.
Day 3. Husky Sled Safari and Snowshoeing Activity.
Buffet breakfast. It's time to put on your thermal clothing again and enjoy an incredible day outdoors. In the morning, we will transfer to a husky farm. After visiting the farm, it's time to embark on a husky sled ride. These friendly animals will be waiting for us, jumping and barking, ready to pull the sleds. During this ride, each adult will have the opportunity to drive their own sled (2 people per sled, alternating the driver position: while one person drives, the other sits in the sled). These dogs resemble wolves, with their pointed ears, penetrating gaze, and pronounced snout. They can have one eye of each color. This is undoubtedly one of the best experiences to enjoy in Lapland. We will return to the hotel for lunch, and in the afternoon, we will continue with a fun activity loved by both adults and children. We will go snowshoeing, taking a leisurely walk to enjoy nature and observe the surroundings. We might come across animal tracks and be able to follow their trail. The rest of the afternoon is free. Dinner at the resort's restaurant. Accommodation.
Day 4. The big day has arrived! Snowmobile Excursion, Ice Fishing, and Meeting Santa Claus.
Buffet breakfast at the hotel. We will start another wonderful day of adventures in Lapland with one of the most spectacular excursions we can experience: a snowmobile ride. We will begin with driving instructions (which are very easy as snowmobiles do not have gears) before enjoying the power of these machines. The children will ride in a sled pulled by the guide's snowmobile through the snowy forests and frozen lakes. We will return to the hotel for lunch before engaging in the enjoyable activity of ice fishing. We will travel to a frozen lake where a local fisherman will teach us how to fish with nets under the ice. Each of us will have to drill a hole in the ice and then try our luck at fishing. The children, and even the young at heart, can have fun in the designated area for sledding down the snowy hills. We will return to the hotel and have free time until dinner. Later, the moment that the little ones have been waiting for will arrive: the meeting with Santa Claus. Each family will have a private time with this endearing character, where they can chat, give him their letters, take photos with him, and show him everything they have learned during this trip. Each child will receive a gift from Santa. Accommodation.
Day 5. Inari, Ivalo, Barcelona.
Buffet breakfast. Free time until the scheduled transfer. We cannot leave Lapland without experiencing a relaxing sauna. Saunas are a tradition in Finland. Although the Finns didn't invent them, they have the highest number of saunas per capita, with almost one sauna for every two inhabitants, and they are the ones who use them most frequently. Departure to Inari Airport. Check-in procedures and departure on a direct flight to Barcelona. Snack included onboard. Arrival and end of our adventure in Lapland.
