New Year's Eve in Kuusamo

Day 1. Spain / Kuusamo

Arrive at the airport with enough time to check in for your flight. Lunch will be served on your flight. Once you arrive to Kuusamo, you will meet your guide and transfer to the Holiday Club Kuusamon Tropiikki complex (approx. 10min). Once you arrive, you will have enough time to get settled. Once you are ready, you can head over to the hotel restaurant for a delicious dinner.  

Day 2. Kuusamo. Snowmobile Safari, Spa and Angry Birds

Breakfast buffet at the hotel. Before starting your activities, you will collect the thermal suits that you can use during the entire stay in Lapland. Today you will set off on a snowmobile safari. To do this, you will be provided with helmets and gloves as well as instructions from the guides. The adults will drive the snowmobiles (2 per snowmobile) and the children will be in a sled that is being pulled by the guide's snowmobile. Enjoy the amazing views that Lapland has to offer as you travel through the snowy forest and pass by frozen rivers. Return to the nearby resort of Rukan Salonki to enjoy the snow. In the complex you can enjoy the illuminated tracks with snow slides, sleds and floats for free. On the frozen lake you can try the Finnish carousel, one person sits and another spins it. You can also use the "kick-sledges", the most traditional and authentic means of transport, sleigh type. Light lunch at the resort's restaurant.

In the afternoon free time during which we recommend enjoying the hotel spa pool, an area decorated with exotic plants, a tropical oasis. Both adults and children can enter (you have one ticket for clients staying in a villa/apartment, and unlimited use for clients staying in a room). Children can also have fun at the Angry Birds Park (admission included), a huge playground with multiple attractions such as a ball pool, pedal go-karts, video games and many other amusements inspired by the funny birds. Day 3. Kuusamo. Meeting with Santa Claus

Breakfast buffet at the hotel. Today is the day the little ones have been waiting for. You will move to a secret place near Ruka. A small complex of houses and cabins with wonderful winter views. There is an area of ​​slides for children to play while they wait to see Santa. Santa with Mrs. Claus will be at waiting at their home to meet you. Mrs. Claus will prepare cookies and Christmas decorations with you, while Santa tells you all about what life is like in Lapland. Each family will be able to spend some time with him, chat and take some photos. Each child (under 11 years old) will receive a gift from the hands of Santa Claus himself! With the indelible memory of this visit you will say goodbye to Santa Claus to return to your accommodation. Return and light lunch in a restaurant. Rest of the day free to enjoy the hotel facilities or play games in the snow. Dinner at hotel's restaurant. 

Day 4. Kuusamo. Arctic Animal Safari: Reindeer and Huskies

Breakfast buffet at the hotel. You will start a new day of adventures with a visit to a husky dog ​​farm. Upon arrival at camp, you will be greeted by the enthusiastic barking of dogs. Surrounded by nature, the guides will explain to you the instructions on driving and safety before starting the sleigh ride. The team takes two people, a musher and a passenger (they can change places during the tour). After the excitement and speed of the beginning, you will soon begin to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Once back at the camp, we can enjoy a comforting hot drink in a kota. Light lunch during the excursion.

In the afternoon you will travel through beautiful forests and over ice covered lakes to arrive at a traditional reindeer farm. We will take a sleigh ride pulled by these endearing animals, while the shepherds tell us stories about their life and livelihood. This is the oldest profession in Lapland. Rest of the day free to enjoy the hotel facilities or take an optional go-karting excursion.

Special New Year's Eve dinner at the hotel restaurant. 

Optional excursion: Go-karting and mini snowmobiles

You will be transferred to the go-karting center, where you will enjoy an exciting new experience. Drive special made go-karts meant to move on snow or ice. In groups of 5 or 6 people, everyone will have a chance to drive their own kart. This fun and easy activity can be enjoyed by everyone. The minimum height requirement is 5 ft, the height at which the driver can reach the accelerator and brake pedals. Children who cannot drive the karts will be able to drive the mini-snowmobiles (ages 4 to 11 years old). 

Day 5. Ruka. Ice Fishing, Lunch at Kota, and Snowshoeing

After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, you will go to the shore of Lake Veskajärvi. Here is where you will meet the fishing guide at a laavu, a shed they use for shelter on the shore. First you will receive instructions to learn how to use the small fishing rods and baits, as well as the "kaira", which is the drill to make holes in the ice. Then it is our turn to find the best spot and try our luck on the ice. The lake is home to perch and pike, both of which are natural inhabitants. In the laavu you can enjoy a hot drink around a campfire to warm up. After you will enjoy a light lunch in a Lappish kota, which are the typical Sami (Lapp) tents shaped similarly to teepees or Native American tents. Later on, you will continue with an activity that both adults and children will enjoy. You will put on your snowshoes and will head out to a beautiful snowy forest. The guide will give you information about nature and the seasons in this area. The nature we now see hibernating becomes a totally different world a few months later when it blossoms under the midnight sun. Return to the hotel and the rest of the day is free so that you can enjoy the sauna or snow activities. Dinner at hotel's restaurant. 

Day 6. Kuusamo / Spain

Enjoy the breakfast buffet. Today you have free time until it is time to be driven to the airport. If you have not had a chance, make sure to enjoy a relaxing sauna, you cannot leave Lapland without doing so. Saunas in Finland is quite a tradition. Although the Finns did not invent it, they are the country with the highest number of saunas per inhabitant; almost 1 sauna for every 2 inhabitants. Depart for Kuusamo airport. Check-in procedures and direct flight departure to Spain. Snack on board included. Arrival and end of our adventure in Lapland.
