We start off with a tour of the ship, from the engine room to the bridge. You can walk around and explore the ship or relax in the lounge with a hot drink. See and feel how this massive ship breaks the ice under your feet. See as the ship maneuvers in a way that creates an ice-free hole. Perfect for… swimming!! Put on a waterproof survival suit which will protect you and float in the water without feeling a bit of cold. This is a once in a lifetime experience. Once the cruise is over, you head over to a nearby restaurant for a light lunch and then return to Rovaniemi. (Total duration: Approximately 10 hours.)
Optional excursion: Ranua Zoo
Visit the northernmost zoo in the world! Departure by bus from Rovaniemi to Ranua Arctic Zoo (approximately 1 hour). On this excursion you will be able to see the native animals that populate these Arctic areas, not only just Finland but also Greenland and the North Pole. The zoo was built inside a forest, in the middle of nature. Walk around on the wooden walkways to see the different animals that call this zoo their home. During the winter everything is covered in snow, which allows you to see the animals in their natural habitat. You can see polar bears, moose, snowy owls and more. Lunch is included at the zoo restaurant. We recommend you stop by the Fazer store, Finland's most famous chocolate, before we leave.
