Day 2 Salla. Snowmobile Safari and Spa.
We have spent our first night in Lapland, and after enjoying a full buffet breakfast at the Kiela restaurant in the Salla Tuvat complex, we are going to embark on a unique experience riding powerful snowmobiles through snowy forests and frozen lakes. We will discover the sensation of enjoying a cup of coffee or hot chocolate in the middle of a bonfire while contemplating the idyllic scenery of Lapland's nature. We will be fully equipped to withstand the cold and will have received all the necessary safety instructions and guidance on operating the snowmobiles (which is very simple) to ensure we can fully enjoy the activity. For the peace of mind of parents, the youngest ones will enjoy the snowmobile safari in a sled pulled by the guides' snowmobiles. After this unforgettable experience on our journey to Lapland, it's time for lunch, which will be prepared for us at the Kiela restaurant. To spend a Lapland afternoon, we recommend enjoying skiing, as we have the Salla Alpine Family Ski Resort just a few minutes' walk away, with illuminated slopes. We can purchase ski passes by the hour (from 1 hour) as well as rent equipment. It's a great experience for skiing enthusiasts with fantastic snow conditions and minimal waiting time for the lifts. In the afternoon, after a day filled with great moments, we can relax and enjoy the spa at the hotel near the cabin complex. We can unwind in the jacuzzis and pools (4) with water jets and saunas (entrance included). It's a family-friendly facility, allowing both children and adults to enjoy it, and it's within walking distance from the cabin. Don't forget to bring your swimsuit and slippers, but if you forget in the excitement of the day, don't worry—they can be rented there. Tonight's dinner will be at the Kiela restaurant in our cabin complex. Here, you will dine in a cozy and relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant is a member of "Chaîne des Rôtisseurs," a renowned French gastronomic society that promotes and supports local food culture and pays homage to national cuisine. In 2008, the Kiela restaurant was awarded the Excellence Seal in recognition of its high-quality food and service.
Day 3 Salla, Husky Sleds, Snowshoeing, Ice Fishing, Cinema, and Dinner in a Kota
We continue to enjoy the destination and unique activities. After a hearty and necessary buffet breakfast served at the restaurant in the complex, we will embark on one of the most exciting excursions of our trip: a husky sled ride. Although most of the dogs are huskies, there are other breeds that are experts and trained to pull sleds, which they do with great enthusiasm. When the time comes and after receiving tips to safely enjoy the experience, we will become skilled mushers of an authentic husky sled. Driving a husky sled through the snowy forests of Salla is truly one of the best experiences you can have on a trip to Lapland. Today, we will have a lunch like the locals, enjoying a hot soup and roasted sausages around a bonfire in the middle of the forest. To continue with local traditions, we will go on a snowshoe walk through the snowy Lapland forest until we reach a frozen lake where we can try our luck with ice fishing. After a day filled with new experiences, we will return to our accommodation where we can rest and enjoy an authentic Finnish sauna in our private cabin. An afternoon of cinema and popcorn awaits us, starting on a Lapland train where the carriages are sleds and the locomotive is a snowmobile, taking us to the auditorium (about 3 km from the Kiela restaurant) where a movie suitable for all audiences will be screened, revealing a magical world. Continuing with our Lapland day, for dinner, we will move to a wooden kota to enjoy a very special meal consisting of delicious local products. Throughout the evening, our hosts will share old stories and local shamanic traditions with us... An unforgettable dinner in a unique setting. We will then return to our cabin to rest and recharge for the next day.
Day 4 Salla, Reindeer Sled, Mini Snowmobiles, and Private Meeting with Santa Claus
A new day dawns in Lapland, filled with unique moments and activities. After a good buffet breakfast, we will head to the nearby reindeer farm to learn about the reindeer way of life and take a relaxing ride in a reindeer-drawn sled through the snowy forest. During the activity, we will visit the enclosure where the pregnant females spend their winter and some young ones who are not yet old enough to pull the sleds. We will have the opportunity to hand-feed them and spend an incredible time with them. We will enjoy lunch in a "kota," which is a typical Lappish tent similar in shape to Native American teepees. We will then have the chance to rest in our cabin and prepare for one of the highlights of the trip that both the little ones and the not-so-little ones have been eagerly awaiting. In a private setting, family by family, we will be transported by a guide on a snowmobile-pulled sled to a magical place in the middle of the forest to meet Santa Claus. We will personally meet Santa Claus, have a conversation with him, take photos, and enjoy a magical encounter. Our beloved friend, Santa Claus, will thank us for our visit by giving each child a gift. To keep the little ones entertained until the moment we begin our meeting with Santa, they will have access to various fun activities such as sleds and snow slides, including the opportunity to drive mini snowmobiles on a safe circuit. With so many emotions, surely our appetites have opened up. Tonight, we will have dinner at the Kiela restaurant. We will return to our cabin after a day of magical experiences to rest.
Day 5 Salla - Rovaniemi - Madrid
Last day in Lapland. After enjoying the buffet breakfast at the Kiela restaurant, we will embark on our journey to Rovaniemi. Upon arrival at Santa Claus Village, located right on the imaginary and magical line of the Arctic Circle, we can visit its craft and souvenir shops, send a letter or postcard from Santa Claus' official Post Office, and explore the various attractions that make up this magical world. With this visit, we will put the finishing touch on this dreamy trip. We will then continue to the airport, which is located less than 3 km from Santa Claus Village, to complete the check-in procedures for our direct flight to Madrid. Flight schedule for the direct flight (local time): Rovaniemi – Madrid 14.00 – 18.05 hrs. Arrival and end of the trip.
